A Moving Image, directed by Shola Amoo, has already earned 2 awards – the BFI Vision award for Producer and the Special Recognition: Narrative award at the 2016 Blackstar Film Festival in Philadelphia.
Yinka’s role in the film has also been recognised in the international press:
‘One particular character, Big Ben (Yinka Oyewole), shines as the penultimate Brixton resident, providing the backdrop commentary of Brixton’s essence through song.’
Hollywood Black Renaissance, US
‘The film also features a host of direct addresses to camera, another distinctly Lee-esque touch, and a community focal point – known in the film as Big Ben – who acts as a troubadour-cum-Greek chorus. “Big Ben to me is the spiritual essence of Brixton,” says Amoo. “What’s interesting is that the song he sings, (Sometimes These South London Streets Remind Me Of) Brooklyn, was written by him before he knew about the film.”’
The Guardian, UK
The song ‘(Sometimes These South London Street Remind Me Of) Brooklyn’ which is featured in the film is out now Sat 8 October 2016. Available on iTunes, Amazon Spotify, TIDAL and all major online outlets.
